Is there sugar in sunlight?

Green plants photosynthesise sugars from water, CO2 and sunlight. So is the sugar in the sunlight?

Of course it’s an obtuse question.

For the most part, and I would guess for most of our history as humans, we gained our knowledge, our understanding of the world, mostly from our experience in the world. That, and, of course, what other people told us. We had our own experience as a yardstick to measure the credibility of what we were told against, but that received information was also an influence.

And then the printing press and reading started us on a path to today where the amount of signal and information we receive or could receive has the most massive effect on our perception and mental model of the world. We see and hear of things via communications technology of which we have no experience.

There’s still a great misunderstanding about what is information and what is knowledge. But perhaps information is to knowledge a bit more like sunlight is to sugar.
